Get Carter (1971)

Michael Caine is Jack Carter, a London based gangster who travels back home to bury his brother and find out what really happened.

This movie is belak... very bleak. Newcastle is one hell of a location with its run down, industrial look. Everything is ugly, dirty and depressing and the sun never shines. I like it. It reminds me of my hometown.

Carter is a man you don't want to piss off, cause he's one mean motherfucker and will break your face if he feels like it. Michael Caine is so freakin good and I could not imagine anyone doing a better job.

What I love about the movie is the realistic tone. The violence is quick and effective, everyone looks like real people and even though the movie has an amazing soundtrack, it is used in a very economic way.

All in all, if you like bleak, realistic gangster movies you can't go wrong with 'Get Carter'.
